Old Hall Alveston

Alveston was designed by Robert Welch in the 1960s and won a coveted 'Design Centre' award. The range included a full range of cutlery, together with accompanying items to dress the dining table - teapots, coffee pots, toast racks and everything else you might ever need. The cutlery featured satin finish handles and bowls, with gloss blades to the knives.

When Oneida bought out Old Hall, in the early 1980s, it continued to manufacture Alveston for a very short period of time, until it became too expensive to produce. The very first version of Oneida Alveston was identical to Old Hall - only the manufacturer's stamp was changed. Oneida resurrected the design several years later and produced an updated version in 18/8 stainless steel and finally in 18/10 stainless steel. These two versions are heavier to handle and have slightly wider stems to the forks and spoons. The knife blades are bright finish, instead of high gloss.
