Designed in 1975 by David Mellor, Provençal featured gently rounded handles and soft curved shapes, suggesting an increasingly easy-going attitude to food. The rounded knife blades are made from high carbon stainless steel for a superior cutting edge. The handles are rosewood with brass rivets. There is quite a degree of variation in colour to the handles, which David Mellor described as 'part of their charm'. The teaspoons were plain stainless steel (not rosewood handles).
