Viners Studio cutlery was designed in the 1960s by Gerald Benney. From 1957 to 1969 he designed stainless steel cutlery for Viners and Studio was his most popular design. It is still widely collected today. The original version of this iconic design featured hollow bark effect handles to the knives. The reverse of the flatware was satin finish, with mirror polished bowls to the spoons and forks. The reverse of the flatware was stamped: VINERS OF SHEFFIELD ENGLAND STAINLESS STEEL. Due to the popularity of the design, it has been relaunched at least twice, with slight variations. These later products, manufactured in the far east, while superficially similar to the original are not of the same quality. The reverse of the flatware is polished, rather than satin and the bark design somehow doesn't have the same sparkle. The knives are also solid, instead of hollow. We only sell the original Sheffield Version.
