Oneida purchased Old Hall in the early 1980s and initially continued to produce Oneida Alveston 1st version in exactly the same form as Old Hall Alveston, until 1985. The 2nd Oneida version of Alveston - Oneida Alveston 18/8 was virtually identical, but by this time, some of the original dies had been recast, so there are some very subtle differences, which to most people, are hardly noticeable. Most of this generation of Alveston has the Oneida 18/8 stamp on the reverse of the spoons and forks, although there are slight variations. Sometimes it is simply ONEIDA.
The very last version produced by Oneida was Oneida Alveston 18/10. This was quite different, with a much brighter appearance and heavier handles to the knives. If you need any help identifying your version, please get in touch.
